Imam Khomeini has achieved the dream of the Prophets

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

اللهم صل على محمد وال محمد

 

{ لَقَدْ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ بَعَثَ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِنْ كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ} (ال عمران:164

[3:164]}Certainly did Allah confer [great] favour upon the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they had been before in manifest error.

 

In this verse Allah (swt) speaks about the philosophy behind sending prophets. The message of every prophet consists of three dimensions. These dimensions include reciting revelation, purifying the people and teaching them the book and the wisdom.

 

The Prophets (a.s) were not sent to recite the revelations only as theories, or intellectual exercises. If we analyse the verse we will see that it began with the first dimension, “reciting the revelation”, and then ended with the third dimension, “teaching the book and wisdom”. This highlights that teaching the people and imparting wisdom is not merely a theoretical or intellectual exercise, but something that the people should be able to put into practice. In between them comes the second dimension, which is “purifying”, as it is impossible for a person who does not strive to purify his soul to be able to comprehend or practice the laws of Allah (swt).

 

When the three dimensions are present within a society, they can become the catalyst for significant change. In this respect, we can say that all Prophets (a.s) where revolutionaries, as they were sent by Allah (swt) to instigate significant change within their respective communities.  After the conclusion of prophethood, our Imams (a.s) became the leaders of the Islamic Ummah, and the inheritors of the roles of the Prophets (as) as the leaders and revolutionaries of the community. This is why you will find that upon analysing the lives of the Masumeen (as), it becomes clear that they were all leading revolutions during their lifetime. These revolutions differed in their nature, as they might have been political revolutions such as that of Imam Ali (a.s) and Sayeda Al-Zahra (a.s), a military revolution such as that of Imam Al-Hussien (a.s) or an educational and intellectual revolution such as that of Imam Al-Baqer (a.s) and Al-Sadeq (a.s)

 

During the time of the major occultation of Imam Al Mahdi (ajtf), the authority was given by the Imam (ajtf) to the jurists. The Shia therefore, were introduced by the Ahl Al Bayt (a.s) to a new system of governance entitled ‘Wilayat Al-Faqih’. It is unanimously accepted by Shia scholars as a theory, although the scholars differ in regards to the capacity of the authority of the Wali al-Faqih.

 

 

 

Therefore, it is not only the obligation of the Prophets (a.s) and the Imams (a.s) to become the leaders and initiate a revolution; it is also the obligation of the jurists during the time of the major occultation to follow the three dimensions that are mentioned in the verse, which are:

–          Reciting the revelation (by referring back to the Quran and the House Hold),

–          Purifying people (through spirituality)

–          Teach them the book and wisdom in order for them to put into practice the theories and prepare for the movement of Imam Al Mahdi (ajtf)

 

Only one man was able to rise, extract this theory from the books and implement it on a practical level. This man is the great Ruhollah Al-Khomeini (q.s), the one who established the government of the Ahl Al Bayt (a.s)

The movement of Imam Khomeini (q.s) and the establishment of the Islamic government in Iran inspired the oppressed people around the world. They found in our late Imam (q.s) the inspiration for rising up against the oppressors, as the purpose of this great revolution was not only to overthrow the Shah. The main purpose was to establish the government of Ali ibn Abe Taleb (a.s) on earth, a government that is not limited to the borders that were imposed by the imperial powers. That is why Imam Khomeini (q.s) said: “This government is neither East nor West, but an Islamic republic”.

Oppressed people flew to Iran so they can be guided by their new leader. If we critically examine the situation today we find that the only movements that were successful in defeating their enemies are the movements that are linked to the path of our late Imam Khomeini (q.s), which is the path of the Ahl Al Bayt (a.s). The Islamic resident in Lebanon is a clear example, as due to the guidance of our late Imam (q.s), and the guidance of our leader Imam Khameni (H.A), they were able to defeat the Zionist regime.
